Congratulations

to

Mabel

on her

100th Birthday

Mabel Wigley was born on 20th October 1908 in Nether Alderley, Cheshire. She left school at 14 and went into service on the nearby Lord Stanley Estate. Mabel was one of 6 children and although only she and her brother Geoff are now surviving, all lived well into their 90s. Mabel married Frank in 1933 and had 2 sons and a daughter. They moved to Brook End, Keysoe in 1950.

Frank worked the the Aircraft Establishment in Thurleigh as a carpenter until he retired in 1966. Frank suffered with heart problems and Mabel looked after him until he died in 1993. Mabel continued to live in Brook End until she was 96 when she moved into Brook House in Riseley. Mabel now has 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

When she reached 90, Mabel was given life membership to Keysoe W.I. of which she has been a member for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Clover Club for many years.

Mabel likes to keep her mind active by doing Word Search, playing dominoes and still reds her daily paper without glasses!!! She was also a great knitter and made hundreds of squares for a children's charity. Sadly, due to arthritis she can no longer do this.

Mabel celebrated her centenary with her family at Brook House.
