VILLAGE HALL NEWS

QUIZ CHALLENGE CUP.

The first Quiz Challenge was a night full of challenges! - initially, how to fit all the 25 competing teams into the hall. Then followed the challenge of the brain-teasing questions. Not to be left out, the Bar Team rose to the challenge of keeping all competitors refreshed. The worthy winners were "Potluck". Revenge can be sought on 24th March 2007, when the 'wooden spoon' winners have volunteered to set, and deliver, the questions. They are promising some very different challenges, so put the date in your diary now!

VILLAGE CALENDAR.

The 2007 Village Calendar, with photographs donated by Mick Watson, from his collection of Village Photographs, is into a re-print courtesy of Mark and Paul Brown. The original 150 copies were sold out in a few weeks. They are currently available at the Chapel Gallery, or any member of the Village Hall Committee, priced at £5 each. All profits from the sale go to the Village Hall Development Fund.

Mick is already considering the 2008 Calendar and plans to feature 'Village Life', so if your organisation or group has an event that would make an intresting picture, please contact him. - Only fully clothed volunteers please!!!

RISELEY SHOW

Last show 1963!............. Next show 8th September 2007. The RISELEY SHOW is about to be revived. This early notice is to warn our resident gardeners, when looking through seed catalogues, to choose your potatoes, carrots and flowers with care. Also, wine, sloe gin and cider makers should remember to keep a bottle for the judges to sample. Nimble fingered knitters and sewers should use the dark nights ahead to create something beautiful for the 'Hobby' section and photographers should search out the perfect photo. There will be categories for young people as well as adults. Preparations for the day are well under way and much more information will be available in the spring. The response to the idea of reviving the Show has been very enthusiastic, so start planning now!!!
